How do I configure the Eturnity solar calculator in the more detailed way (with stored prices for the main components) ?

This article explains the more detailed way of configuring the Eturnity solar calculator. The simpler configuration is described in this article.

What can I configure in the Eturnity solar calculator?

  • Description and designation of the solar calculator systems with and without battery storage, which the end customer can compare in the solar calculator.
  • Standard components for the projects in the solar calculator, which are created from the completed customer requests in the solar calculator
  • Price indication for the PV system, which the customer gets based on his information in the solar calculator

Open the Solar Expert and navigate to the Library. There select the submenu Solar Calculator. In the displayed list, select a system with the type Solar Calculator system.

Description and name of the solar calculator systems with and without battery storage, which the end customer can compare in the Solar Calculator.

Here you can change the name and description of the respective system.

The name and description are also displayed accordingly in the Solar Calculator.

Standard components for the projects in the solar expert, which are created from the completed customer requests in the solar calculator

If you have opened the Solar Calculator system page in the "Solar Calculator" submenu in the Solar Expert library and scroll down, you will get to the overview of the standard components for the PV system.

The components selected here also serve as a project template for new projects, which are automatically created in the Solar Expert when an end customer has made a new request in your solar calculator.

It is therefore advisable to store your most common components here, so that you do not usually have to change them when planning the project in the Solar Expert.

Under "Other components" we recommend to store only one auxiliary position like "Variable costs solar calculator". You can then easily use this position as a set screw for adjusting your individual price structure in the solar calculator. You will learn more about this in the next section.

If you scroll down even further, you will get to the selection of the standard components for the battery storage to be used in the Solar Calculator.

Since there are customers who want to become as independent as possible with a battery storage system, as well as customers who want a battery storage system that is as economical as possible, it is recommended to enter a battery storage system with a medium capacity and a good price-performance ratio, so that the result regarding independence and economy in the solar calculator is attractive for both customer groups.

Price indication for the PV system, which the customer receives based on his information in the Solar Calculator

In the evaluation of the solar calculator on the profitability page, the end customer is directly shown a price indication for the respective solar calculator system.

This price indication is based on the one hand on the size of the PV system estimated by the Solar Calculator and on the other hand on the prices of the standard components stored in the library in the solar calculator system.

Example for the calculation of the price indication:

In our example, the solar calculator estimates a size of 10 kWp for the PV system. Accordingly, the prices for the components stored in the solar calculator system are first calculated individually and then summed up:

Modules:
25 modules x 250€/module = 6,250€.

The solar calculator automatically determines the required number of modules and calculates the price according to the price stored in the library for the standard module stored in the solar calculator system.

Inverter:
10kWp x 200€/kWp = 2.000€.

Especially for the inverter stored in the solar calculator, you can store a price per kWp with several price levels in the library instead of a price per unit, so that the same unit price is not always used for the inverter, even if the plant size differs significantly from the power of the stored inverter.

Mounting system:
25 modules x 100€/module = 2.500€.

The solar calculator automatically determines the required number of modules, the generator area in square meters or the PV system power in kWp and calculates the price according to the price stored in the library for the substructure stored in the solar calculator system.

Other component:
10kWp x 300€/kWp = 3.000€.

Under "Other components" we recommend to store only one auxiliary position like "Variable costs solar calculator". You can then easily use this position as an adjustment screw for setting your individual price structure in the solar calculator.
If you enter several components here, it can be more difficult to define the prices for the different system sizes in the solar calculator, because there are then automatically more factors that influence this.

Tip:

Create a group in the solar expert with all service and installation lines, which you store in your offers by default. Then you can easily replace the item "Variable costs solar calculator" in the bill of materials of the project with this group.

Sum of the individual costs + VAT:

Cost modules:                         6.250€
Cost inverter:                          2.000€
Cost mounting system:          2.500€
Cost of other components:   3.000€

Total:                                      13.750€
VAT 0%:                                          0€

Investment incl. VAT             13.750€

Since the prices in the solar expert's library are all net prices, VAT must still be added to the sum of the costs of all standard components.

Calculation of the price indication for the solar calculator system with battery storage

In the example above, the costs for the solar calculator system without battery storage were calculated. To calculate the costs for the solar calculator system with battery storage, simply add the costs, which are stored in the library for the storage in the solar calculator system and the costs for the "Other components" stored in the battery storage. Accordingly, this results in the higher price, which is displayed in the solar calculator for the system with battery storage.
