This adjustment has the following effects on existing projects:
- This implementation has no effect on the BOM of existing projects. If you run the simulation again the following key figures will change in the project: IRR, production costs, payback time, self-consumption
- The adjusted documents will automatically apply to your projects. If the PDF is generated again the values on the PDF are not consistent with the values in the expert project, only if you run the simulation again.
New MCS Calculation:
The eturnity expert
calculates for every project the PV production according to the MCS guidelines.
If the calculated MCS PV production and yearly consumption is between 1'500 -
5'999 kWh, the customer type is private and the battery storage is <
15.1 kWh --> The project is validated as "within MCS scope" and
the calculation is done with the MCS PV production and MCS self-consumption
value.
If the project variant doesn't matches this validation criteria every value is calculated with the eturnity calculation. The information about the validation criteria for MCS self-consumption is visible on the page PV > Shading / snow losses.
Secondly for every roof the sunpath diagram gets calculated and is visible and editable on the page PV > Shading / snow losses. The Shading factor is taken into account if the project variant is within MCS scope; if not the standard Shading / snow losses value is considered for the calculation.

Documents enhancements:
- 02a Sunpath diagram: This page is available for all customers and projects. It visualises the sunpath for each roof.
-
10a About the simulation: This page contains text
elements and a report table. The content on this page is dynamic according if
the project variant is within MCS scope or not. The report table is only
available if the project variant is within MCS scope.
- 02a Information part solar: If the project variant is within the MCS scope there are disclaimers for the values that are not MCS conform
ROI calculation for storage systems under MCS:
For the feasibility calculation of the storage system, the Eturnity Expert solution considers the investment costs, the maintenance costs as well as the additional savings due to increased self-consumption multiplied by the price spread between consumption and export tariff. It also considers the electricity tariff development over time.
Process steps in detail:
- Create a project
- Project settings: Define how the assessment was done
- PV > 3D Panel layout: Draw a 3D Layouting, as soon as this is done the MCS PV production value is calculated (the value is accessable on PV > Shading / snow losses)
-
PV > Shading / snow losses:
- Enter a yearly consumption and define the occupancy archetype
- Check in the information table if your project is within the validation for MCS self-consumption
if within: The simulation of your project is done with the MCS PV production value AND the MCS self-consumption value. The shading factor (MCS Shading) is considered.
if not within: The simulation of your project is done with the eturnity calculation. The shading percentage (Shading / snow losses) is considered. You can still access the calculated shading factor and enter it as shading percentage (e.g. Shading factor: 0.85 --> Shading percentage: 15%) - Run the simulation
- Documents: Add the documents ("02a Sunpath diagram", "10a About the simulation") to your offer to display the sunpath diagram and the MCS texts and report table.
