How to extrude connected roofs with different heights?

Introduction

For roofs with dormers or sections with drop-offs, defining specific edges as split edges helps you create a layout that matches the real world. Split edges separate vertically independent parts of the roof and are represented by a double line. You can define split edges within the Roof or Height tool.

Working with Split Edges

To define a selected edge as a split edge - click the  when the edge shares the same height as the surrounding roof. This means the nodes and their sub-nodes along that edge are at the same level.

To change a selected split edge to an inner edge - click the  to snap it to the surrounding roof, changing its type to an inner edge.

When selecting multiple edges and defining them as split edges - only those that can be split will be split. Note that outer edges cannot be defined as split edges.

Additional Note

You can also select and drag an edge or node, which may automatically assume split edges. However, it is recommended to define split edges manually for accuracy.
